Unease at the Stadium

by The Editor

Despite a comfortable win over Johnstown the Kavli team seems mired in trouble. An early lead last night was not enough to stop a churning stomach, not even a comfortable win could do it. The Post has it from a club source that players are unhappy, nearly all of them. And why? From the roof of the new call-center close to the training grounds we were able to spot what looked like a normal session Friday morning. No fighting, no name-calling, just playing and the normal tediousness of practice; shots wide, sitting on the ground watching the coach draw something on the white-board.

But Saturday one of our correspondents called me up and said something was brewing. Players had been calling each other on their cell-phones all night long, and no-one had slept much at all. Why? No-one knows. Not even now, after the easy win over Winstra last night. So stomachs keep churning. And possible answers keep spinning. A fixed match? A rigged season? Talk of a takeover? The source is silent.

Kavli beat Winstra 3-0.
