The Lupord Farm

At least on the outskirts of town, away from the fray, it’s still possible to see a bit further. The Lupord farm lies just half an hour south of Kavli, on the way to Romney lake. Many people pass it every day, but few stop by. It’s just acres and acres of land and watering and dust. Mostly lettuce is grown. They tried potatoes, but no. Lettuce was better. But with lettuce come slugs. Fat soft Iberian ones, and the small hard-shell type. Simon Robertson, who runs the place, says it’s like walking on mud some days. They spray and the slugs die. “The tractor-wheels are covered in them on a normal day.” The Lupord Farm. Lettuce Slugs and long views.
